Default Homeade Feeder Light

I built a feeder light today and it is sweet. Was going to take it to the lease and give it a shot tomorrow but I won't be able to make it. Probably be a few weeks before I can get it out there. Here are some pics. I only tested it about 15 yards but I plan on putting it up in a tree about 15-20 yards away from my feeder. It should light up a nice area.

Nice, looks like it lites up the whole country. Does it work off a photocell? Bob

That is probably going to be the plan Bob. For now, I am going to see if I have any luck just turning it on when I am out there. They may be hesitant to come to the feeder so if they are, I will put a photocell on it.

I was about to buy the texas boars version but found a website that has step-by-step instructions on how to build it yourself. Mine is almost the same as the texas boars light but it has a few different fittings. Saved $30 plus shipping.

I believe it was http://www.hog-hunting-guide.com/

A friend got the step-by-step instructions. I do believe that costs him to buy them but he "shared" them with me.

Did you use flood or spot light?

Yes, the website was www.hog-hunting-guide.com.

The manual your "friend" bought was a DIY manual for building feeder lights I sell there.

The light you built was a 6 watt red feeder light with flood light lenses.

That's not even the brightest red light I sell. :0

There is a photocell that is available with the kit, but it was opted out of in this order. IMO a photocell is optional with red lights anyway. I just leave mine with one cable connected to the battery and connect the other when I go to my stand. Disconnect when I leave.

I set a solar trickle charger on the battery to keep it charged between uses. Really easy.

Set up gets a little more complicated when you can't leave your lights in place, though.

The biggest thing you'll have to be careful when you set up with getting the game used to it is the scent. They can't see the red light (they can see the light source, though).

They'll know something's a little different, but it won't be the color of the light.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Welcome to the LSBA campfire. Again, thanks for all the input. It will come in handy. These lights are great and extremly bright. I will keep you updated.
