Default Youth Season Update

I just wanted to let everyone know the latest info I have on the meeting in January. I have been talking with several folks at TPW and and the extended youth season will not be an action item at the commissioner's meeting in January. What that means is there will be no public comment taken on the subject at that time. They will probably make a decision during the committee meetings whether or not the proposal moves forward to the March meeting. If it goes that far that is the meeting we will need to show up in force. The key for us is to continue to contact the commissioners, comment on the TPW website, and get signatures on our on-line petition. TPW is monitoring all of these and can tell that bowhunters have a lot of energy around this proposal. We have done well so far but we can't let up yet. I do appreciate all the support everyone has given us but we only have a little over 1500 signatures on our petition. That's really pretty sad when you consider there are 135000 bowhunters in ths state. We need to make sure we are getting the word out. I have been doing interviews with reporters from both print and radio. I am still working with TPWD and will continue to do so until we get this resolved.

Brian has been working the issue as well and I expect he will send out his update soon.

I want to wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Be safe and enjoy the families and friends and above all take a kid hunting.
