Traditional Bows - Regular Feature
I would like to see someone write a regular feature about traditional archery and Texas!
A little history, a little about Texas bowyers, a little about anything Texas-trad! I don't want to be mistaken as trying to turn this into a trad-mag (because both of our first covers featured trad-bows)...there's room for a 'compound' feature as well. In fact, one has been mentioned to me as something members would like to see. I'll start a thread with that idea as well. |
Maybe we can get permission to reprint stories from other mags?
|
I've wondered if it would be possible to get Primitive Archer to allow us to run some of T.R. Zimmerman's "Medicine Man" stories from he past...or if Mr. Zimmerman is a member?
But then I also wasn't sure how many LSBA members would enjoy that type of article? |
Maybe we could finally put that concrete pig out of our misery. That would be a story and reason to celebrate in itself.
|
You know...an 11 year old shooting a longbow ALMOST took that Concrete Pig home with him don't you??? :)
I did take a hog with trad gear on an LSBA hunt but since so many of the CP-Crowd were not present, I didn't want to have the pig present for the event. |
Yeah, that article Tomme did for the magazine sure did give us a black eye. 8) I think he's conspirin'

Hey I can't help it if you trad boys can't shoot on an LSBA hunt. Of course I DID miss twice myself after really practicing a lot with the old recurve, but that wasn't MY fault. It was the curse of the concrete pig.
Joey my personal preference would be if we had perhaps a column of "old gear - new gear" . Maybe one issue could have an article on bowmaking or other trad subjects and the next could have modern gear. Now if the magazine grows as we hope it might, then we could put two separate columns in each, not sure have that much space now. Those are just personal opinions not editorial dictates. |
I sure wouldn't wanna phrase it "old" gear, "new" gear now Tomme. You seen some of the stuff those trad boys are pulling out of their forms lately? Whew Wee some mighty fine arrer chunkers. Look at the OL Adcock ACS or the Super Shrew. How about Mark and Sandy Horne or Bob Sarrels. The list goes on. Now, you may go with "Basic" and "Technical" or something along those lines. But, "Old" and "New"? Hmm. I don't really think it would apply. I know where you're coming from, but some of these new bows have carbon incorporated into their laminants plus the precision engineering as in the Adcock. Good stuff.
Tomme, that concrete pig has got to DIE!!! Die I tell ya. Can't wait till the next Grunts and Gobbles. |
