This is something we need to do. I also feel that LSBA could lead a drive to raise funds for the Sportman's Alliance. I'd like to see us make a donation out of the treasury this year and see how many Texas Bowhunters we could also get to put something into the hat to send off. Note, they wouldn't have to be in LSBA to do this, but I think LSBA HAS to get involved in preserving our Bowhunting heritage, not only in Texas, but nationwide.

I agree Tomme maybe set up a donation can at the Banquet and Bowanza!

Do you think the BRC will need funds on it's own or will helping USSA be directly helping the BRC cause?

What other role will the State org's be asked to play? This issue is what motivated me to finally join LSBA and I appreciate the hard work that's gone into staying on top of this and making bowhunters across the State aware of this problem.

Tomme-

You know I am a strong advocate of getting involved nationally and would encourage everyone on the EC to share my motivation. I am not so sure the rest of the country knows how strongly we feel and with everyone frowning on our hunting anyhow because of rising costs and what a business this has turn into we really need to let everyone know where we stand.

I am game! Are you?

Tinman, I'm not sure at this point, but I think that the BRC will funnel funds to the US Sportman's Alliance to counter anti-hunting efforts, especially as pertains to bowhunting.

Brian Stew, I agree. I think that most of the country recognizes organizations like PETA and Alf as on the lunatic fringe, but I'm not sure that people feel the same about the HSUS. Lots of people think that this group is behind the animal shelter movement, which of course it isn't.

Anyway, I expect the harassment level of bowhunters to go up over the next few years, so now is the time to get busy opposing these groups.

The way I understand it, everyone is funneling through the USSA so there is a single charge and not random fragmented battles which would be hard to keep track of. I think we can work hand in hand with them and if we stay active, attend meetings through conference calls etc.. then I think we will make sure everyone knows who we are and that we mean business just like the rest of the US. Living in Austin, I understand the liberalistic movements because I see them every day.
