Help Desperately Needed for Youth Archery This Weekend In DFW

I just got an email form the City of Grapevine asking if we were going to be at the Outdoor Kids Adventure Day (OKAD) event THIS SATURDAY with our youth archery range! I had emailed the City of Grapevine a couple of months ago asking about OKAD and was told they weren't holding it this year. Jennifer told me they weren't having the event this year and were having family campouts instead.

I hate to disappoint the kids and I'm going to do the event even at such short notice but will need help. Anyone willing to help out on such short notice?

All that's involved is to help kids and their families safely fling a few arrows at 3D animals or balloons. The event is this Saturday at Meadowmere Park in the City of Grapevine next to Lake Grapevine. There should be enough LSBA members in the DFW area to make this a success.

Please post here or email me at rww1626@aol.com.

Thanks.
Bob Wright

Good luck, Bob!! I know the booth will be popular! Glad to hear that you are going to do it! I sure hope you have at least a couple of volunteers to help out!

Volunteers have been hard to come by for this one. Region 76 Rep David Lassetter and I will be there but we definately need help and so far there hasn't been a lot of response from the membership.

We'll be there rain or shine. Here's some info on the event.

The LSBA provides the archery range at Outdoor Kids Adventure Day. The event is put on by the City of Grapevine and there will be lots of activities for the kids. I don't know exactly what activies they will have this year, but in the past they've had rock climbing, kayaking, geocaching, fishing, BB-gun, camping and of course, archery. There's no charge for any of the activities. The LSBA does not charge anyone for anything at this event.

Directions to Meadowmere Park.

Take Hwy 114 north from Hwy 121 north of DFW airport. Exit Kimball Ave. and turn right going north. Continue on north Kimball Ave passing the stoplight or stop sign at Dove Rd. I can’t remember if it’s a light or a stop sign but go through the intersection at Dove Rd and continue north. Kimball will make a right hand curve. At the end of the curve will be Park Road 4. Turn left on Park Road 4 and follow it about 3/4 mile to Park Road 2. I’m just guessing its ¾ mile so don’t hold me to that. Turn right at Park Road 2 and look for the archery range. There’s a parking lot right across from the range. My cell number is 972-259-0263 if you can’t find us or if you have any questions.

We will be outdoors so bring sun screen and insect repellant and a hat would be a good idea. I’ll have cold bottled water for the volunteers.

Bob, I sure wish I could make it. Give 'em what-for and have a good time. ;)

:confused:Sorry to hear of the no response. People do not know what they are missing by not helping in these events. Thanks for what you do for the LSBA and the kids. Bob

Thank you to all the volunteers. I had a great time, as I always do at these events. The representative of the City of Grapevine wanted me to pass on their thanks to all the volunteers for making this a very successful outing.
