TP&W hearing
Well folks,
I went down to the open hearing today on the proposed changes to the rules. I stood up and had my say. It was only me and a guy named Luke supporting one of the fishing regs. They told me they are getting input from e-mail and snail mail as well. If you can't make a meeting, send in your opinion. Make a differance. Mark |
Did they talk about the draw limit any?
|
Tracy,
The way these work goes like this. They do a little slide show and explain all the changes. Then, those who want to speak are called. You get up and say whatever you want in your three minutes. The don't really discuss it with you or even ask questions. They just listen politely and take the input back to Austin. I did speak to the draw weight issue. I did not mention LSBA and stated at the start of my discussion that I was just representing my self. Mark |
Yeah, I went to one back when the draw-loc and crossbows were being discussed. Everyone there that spoke regarding the draw-loc opposed it. The commission rep, just smiled and nodded.
Thanks for showing Mark. |
I believe mine is coming up in a few weeks..I need to find the dates again
|
Bobby, Hunter and I went and spoke at our Public Hearing on February 29th. We spoke on extending bowfishing for catfish, lowering hunters ed and the minimum draw weight. We only represented the Kana Clan and didn't mention LSBA.

For the other club members that might read this. It is not that Dena and I don't want to represent LSBA or that we don't want LSBA to have a strong political voice on these issues. We do, and we will. It is my understanding that we will have an official rep, probably Pres or Past Pres in Austin to be the voice of the club. The club needs to have one strong voice. Going to these local meetings let's all of us have input as concered citizens and passionate bowhunters.
Just because I support LSBA, (and agree with most of the club's positions) doesn't mean I can't disagree on some issues and voice my concerns. On these particular issues, I am pretty much in-line with the club position. |
Good points, Chunky!! I'm glad that you brought them up.
It is my understanding that the LSBA will give it's official position on issues at the TPWD Commissioners Hearing. At the public hearing, we were voicing our individual opinions on issues. We should all get involved and let TPWD know that Texas has outdoorsmen and women that are concerned about our future. |
Can someone post the dates again? I'd like to attend one if it is not too late.
