Turkey days are almost past!!

Has anyone got a bird yet? I haven't gotten to go out at all except the trip to Brushy Hills. :(

No luck here, but I have one more weekend. Been taking my 4 yearold grandson with me. Seen lots of birds just not close enough to shoot. Had lots of fun.

I got a turkey. Anyone want to hear the story? :D

LostHawg 05-04-2004 09:00 PM

Well, yes. Not one of Tomme's turkey's either.

Linedawg 05-04-2004 09:02 PM

Brushy Hills was the only turkey hunt I've been on as well. I even have a lease this year and now I can't find the time to get out there. Some times life is very twisted.

Frontloader 05-04-2004 11:27 PM

OK. You twisted my arm and now I can't draw my bow. :D

The complete story can be found on TBH at this location.

Most of you may have read it by now. If not, please do. It doesn't happen every week that I get a turkey or a shot at anything that is in season.

Had a great and successful hunt. Need to get a pig now. Really need to get a lease first however.

Here is a pic to whet your appetite.

bowjunkie 05-05-2004 07:22 AM

WAY to go!! CONGRATS!

Linedawg 05-05-2004 05:49 PM

Great stuff Ed. Is that a chit eating grin I see on your face?

biggen 05-06-2004 07:00 AM

Nice story Ed, I guess since we know where you shot the bird, I wouldn,t pick up the arrow either!

Frontloader 05-06-2004 07:39 PM

Yea, that was some dumb looking grin wasn't it. :D

In shooting a turkey, things usually go fast, I usually don't know what I did afterwards.

The autopsy showed the bird hit thru the thighs. I guess his body was not turned as much as I thought it was. But it did keep him from running and taking off flying. If the bird can fly off, he is usually gone. I have been lucky so far and have not lost one with a bow that I can remember. :)

Linedawg 05-06-2004 08:48 PM

Nope, not dumb looking. Just very well earned! :D

Does this count? :?:
I didn't get to hunt on this hunt  as I was one of four TWA Huntmasters supervising 6 teenagers and their parents on a Spring Turkey Hunt.

On the weekend of April 24 & 25, 3 of the 6 kids did harvest respectably looking gobblers. :D :D The hunt was on a private ranch at Dripping Springs and the looks on the youngsters faces when they talked about their bird was priceless.

Six callers from the National Wild Turkey Federation called for these youngsters and made the hunt a sucess. Although the hunt was with shotguns, we still added a few more individuals and their parents into the joys and responsibilties of being a hunter. :D

It even almost made up for me not getting to hunt.
