13 inch Antler Restriction

Bousque county, where Ihunt has a 13 antler restriction.I had 3 big mature bucks that there not 13 in.good mass on there horns but not legal to shoot.I'm all for letting the young bucks grow up, but there is a time to take the old man out.

Very well said. With the drought that we had this year, it could have very well played a big role in why the mature bucks did not meet the requirement. That does not mean that the will not make it next year if we have great conditions from the beginning. Bob

I've gotten pitures of a lot of bucks, but only the 4 spikes and one 3 pointer are legal on my place. That doesn't mean there aren't bigger racks up there as I came to find out. I saw the big one I shot with a rifle twice during bow season but he never came in range. He measured a hair under 15" and I knew he would go from a few hours of studying him during bow season. Now I've got some picture of freaks that I'd normally want to take out, but they have branches on both sides and won't make 13" which upsets me, but there are a few young deer with very nice racks that will be awesome deer in a year or two.

Ithink the law is helping the deer herd, but it flusters me that I cant take a deer out that you know is spreading bad genes.
