S-W-E-E-T!! Thanks to Dare to Bowhunt for an awesome donation! I know Landrover and Skeeter had a blast.

BOBSTER 08-18-2008 09:32 PM

Buff, when is the time frame for taking this hunt? Thanks to Dare to Bowhunt for supporting the LSBA and donating another great safari. I met Oscar and visited with him. He could not say nothing but good things about his hunt. Bob

Ronny 08-19-2008 05:15 PM

I better count my wifes money :spank:

Target-panic 08-20-2008 09:32 PM

So, do we have a time frame to get this hunt done?

We had a great time. Lammie and Allison have a first class operation. I cant wait to go back. (my wife doesnt know it, but I AM going back!!) Everything was top shelf. The lodge, the food, the scenery and the hunting. Here are a few pix from the Gagu Lodge in Zululand South Africa and a link to Dare to Bowhunt.

Thanks for posting the pics, Dan!

The hunt will need to be taken in 2009.

skeeter 08-21-2008 02:46 PM

Man, I wish I could go back in 09, I would be bidding on this trip. Well worth every penny. My events coordinator has already made plans for Disney Land, Grand Cayman and Breckenridge for 2009. I dont think I'll have to time or MONEY for a South Africa trip. But I already have a group ready to go in 2010!

skeeter 08-23-2008 04:55 AM

Do we bid here?

I'll start with $500

Not sure if I understand. Are we bidding on a $2900 hunt with an added $1200 to be used towards the package? Which package is this hunt? I am really excited about this place. Cant wait to go back for more chicken feet!! (among other things!) I sould be able to go in 2009 as I just found out I had an annuity that matured that I didnt even know I had!!

BUFF 08-23-2008 06:30 PM

you get your daily fees plus $1200.00 towards your trophy fees

Got it. I received an e mail from Allison today explaining it to me! I'm not a very smart man!

Landrover 08-23-2008 10:25 PM

Opportunity of a Lifetime!!!

OMG, folks better get serious about this in a hurry!!! This place is FANTASTIC....everything was RIGHT. Dena did you send a email blast to all the LSBA members about this??? Did you post on other forums? I just heard about it from Dan earlier today.
If folks don't want to play in RSA I am more than sure that I can fit it into my 09' bowhunting plans. Native trophy animals are the "norm" not the occassional decent bull or ram. My goal is get back to the Kalahari for Cape Buffalo and Lioness but Zululand (Gagu) has more monster Nyala, Blesbuck, Impala, Warthogs, Zebra and Vervet Monkeys than I could have ever imagined!

Landrover 08-23-2008 10:39 PM

African Animals posted in Gallery!!!

Oh, yes my "avatar" is a picture of the monster NYALA i got 3 weeks ago on this very same property. There are bigger ones....I saw them with my own eyes while in the "hide" bowhunting!
I also placed all my animals from this hunt in the Gallery!!!!

BearOmni 08-24-2008 04:33 AM

Skeeter can you forward that email explaining everything to me? frank.emmite@gmail.com thanks.

I'll bid 650

Yes, there are bigger nyala! I saw a group of 12 bulls one evening. Several were young bulls But there were also some STUDS! I saw one that was at least 29 inches. Truly at great trophy. I would have loved to shoot one of these awesome animals, but it was a little out of my price range. I did get a lot of pix. If anyone would like to see any of my pix from the gagu Lodge, send me an e mail at dmarcasol@aol.com

Target-panic 08-25-2008 02:38 PM

Skeeter, how about posting the content of that explanation email for all of us or email it to me at russ.davis@embarqmail.com .

I bid $750.00

PS: I think the minimum raise of the bid should be $100.00, to weed out the $1 mores.

Chew 08-25-2008 03:42 PM

Can someone post up a rough ballpark figure for airfare and other costs that you would incur? Thanks. How much more in trophy fees would you need to have a "complete" hunt. Thanks for any info.

Target-panic 08-25-2008 04:35 PM

If booked right now on Expedia, for Mid-Jul 09: $2200 - $2400 per person for airfare. I think you can beat that deal with a company that books these flights regularly.

Transport of capes and skulls back to the US is about $250.00 per animal.

It looks like the Outfitter has several consessions to hunt and the package could dictate where you can hunt and what is avaialable in the area. But, here is the rundown of what I looked at:

Blesbuck $400
Common Duiker $300
Impala $300 - $500 (horn length)
Common Reedbuck $800
Warthog $300 - $600 (tusk length)
Zebra $1200
Blue Wildebeest $900.00

So, you can spend as much as you can scrape up between now and then.

Additional days will add the daily rates for those days. $350 / day (I think)

This website http://www.daretobowhunt.co.za/, has all of the hunt data you could need.

This is for the GAGU Lodge located in the NE Province/Zululand! (About 4 hours from Jo'burg) Also, my ticket was about $2,300 but I have met and heard of people getting tickets for the $1,800 - $2,000 range in coach seating. Hopefully with dropping fuel charges ticket pricing may lighten up some.
Not sure what my animals will cost to ship to Houston (capes/horns only) but my PH was thinking about $1,000 in about 90 more days for my 7 critters. Then the wildcard of whatever my taxidermist charges!

BOBSTER 08-25-2008 08:03 PM

Guys, your animals are just awesome. I have to go back and get one of those nyala. Want one of those as much as I wanted my kudu. Everyone, you can click on Dare to Bowhunts banner to get more info on there trophy fees for other animals. When you have the daily fees taken care of you really need to take advantage of the animals then. This will be a great hunt for someone. Wish it was to be taken in about five years from now. Just to soon to go back right now. Bob

BearOmni 08-25-2008 10:11 PM

I'll go 800.

When is payment due from the winning bidder?

Hot4huntin 08-26-2008 07:08 AM

I sent Lammie an email to find out if the winner will be booking the rest of their trophies on the 2008 or 2009 rates.

Bobby, Russell is pretty much on target with the airfare prices. Our airfare was $1,700.00 because we received a group rate.

Payment will need to be made within 10 days after the closing of the auction; preferably by Paypal or credit card. Please contact me if you prefer to pay by another method.

I know on our safari, the costs were spread out. After the initial payment for this hunt, you will have a while before your airfare is due. I am not sure if Lammie will require a deposit on the other trophies or not. Our concession did not. Your next payment will probably be for your trophies and tips, etc. after your hunt. If you have your animals dipped and shipped, your next payment will be around 4-6 months. If your taxi does not require a deposit, ours did not. Once your trophies arrive, you can have them mounted as your budget allows. Prior to our hunt, I did not realize the costs were so spreadout. Of course, all concession are different.

I can definitely agree with that! I was prepared to pay the taxidermist over there for my "dip & ship" before I left. I was also prepared to pay the shipping company here to coordinate the process. All these payments are 3-6 months out. Personally, I wish it was all faster!

I have to agree with you on that Oscar, my return is about 4 months. Not sure if I can wait that long to put my hands back on the kudu:hot:. Bob

daretobowhunt 08-26-2008 10:25 AM

Glad to see a good response to the auction! We will not require any money up front from the winner. The hunt will take place in Zululand (Gagu), however if the winner would like to hunt 2 areas, additional days can be added to the hunt check our pricing on our website (www.daretobowhunt.co.za) and the pricing will be off the 2009 pricelist. Airfare can vary from $1500 - $2300. Depends on the route you take and how early you book. I know Delta has been cheap before but I am not sure how they look for 2009. Yes, the payment is spaced out, airfare is booked whenever you are ready to book it, you only pay us after the hunt, and taxidermists are only paid in about 4-6 months after the hunt. Please post any questions here. We will get to them as soon as we can!

Back to the top for a chance at a really great hunt. You do not have to believe me, just ask Landrover. Bob

Yep, anyone can call me at anytime!!! 713/301-3922 Definitely worth more than the current bid as EVERYTHING is 1st class!!!!

skeeter 09-02-2008 03:46 PM

First class all the way. It would be tough to find better accomidations anywhere. I cant wait to go back. Truly a hunt of a lifetime (until next time I go!!)

BrandonH 09-05-2008 11:07 PM

It looks like someone is going to get one heck of a deal. I would love to go, but next year is a contract year for our refinery and with the economy the way it is there's a good chance we me be walking the picket line:(, so I'll have to hold off until another time.

biggen 09-09-2008 07:49 AM

So is 1200 the top bid so far?

Hot4huntin 09-09-2008 04:22 PM

$1,200.00 is the top bid to date.
