Our Day at Hunt's bowhunting

My wife really wanted to try to kill something with her bow but she has only been shooting 30 pounds. I told her a month ago if she pushed that up to 40 we would make a trip to Hunt's bow hunting. I try to go every winter as he is a sponsor for the LSBA. She started shooting most every day and in a couple of weeks we had her Evotek bow maxed out at 40 pounds. Saturday morning we were in a box stand long before daylight with critters moving all around us in the dark. At Rickey's place you never know what may be slipping around. It could be a tiny black buck doe or a 2000 pound water buffalo. By 8:00 we had had Axis, Fallow and red deer pass in front of us. We were watching a group of Sika does picking up corn when I noticed a really nice Sika buck standing in the timber. After many years of marriage She didn't have to say it out loud, I knew he was what she wanted. He was spooky and passed back and forth through the timber several time before he finally gave her a shot at 20 yards. The shot was a little far forward and later when I slipped up on him laying in a creek I put another arrow in him. She was tickled but fairly put out with me for shooting her animal again. Later that afternoon she made up for it when she whacked a African goat with a perfect 15 yard shot. It fell in sight. I also managed to take a big Red deer. I passed him up at 15 yards around 3:00 in the afternoon as he had so many does around him , I was afraid I would pass through him and hit one of them as well. About 30 minutes before dark the herd came back down the trail and it was pretty much the same story. They were so bunched up I just couldn't shoot.
Finally, after drawing my bow and letting down a dozen time, I had an opening and was able to hit him with what I thought was a good shot at 25 yards. He ran about 100 yards and stopped on some waist high grass. After watching him for 30 minutes I was amazed he was still alive. My new very best new buddy Simon and I hatched a plan to get up on him in the open field. He circled down hill of the deer as I came over the top. Every time the deer would look my way he would hoot at him and draw his attention until I was able to slip up to within 30 yards of him. When the Bull figured us out it was too late for him. As he gathered his self to leave my 55 pound black widow came up and I watched the German Kinetic tipped shaft bury up 4 inch's above the first shot. He couldn't tote that one and only ran 25 yards before giving up for good. I can't say enough good things about Ricky or his ranch. It is a blast just to look at all the critters. Exotics will never compare to hunting Moose in the high country but taken for what it is, it beats the heck out of playing golf in the off season.
I hope to have the videos by this afternoon.
