Monkeys

We have monkeys on our lease in Dilley and I was wondering if you can shoot a monkey or not. Does anyone know the law?

Feral animal, I say fire away.

txhunter 12-20-2008 12:47 PM

I would try and catch it and keep it as a pet.

BAR, my wife lives to watch animal planet so I have seen some crazy, vicious monkeys. There is no way I would try and get close enough to catch them. :err:

A Texas Monkey taken with a Bow - What a cool trophy!! Make sure if you get one you enter it in the TBBR records!

BOBSTER 12-22-2008 07:16 AM

trollX4, Like mentioned above, they would be consider exotics and can be taken as long as you have landowner consent. This is probably from those that escaped years ago from a research lab. Post pics, we want to see. Bob

Research Lab? Any have like 5 eyes and an extra tail?

Mark, I think that will be a new TBBR record, do not forget to have it entered. Bob

Chunky~rofl rofl rofl

I don't know about the Texas Snow Monkeys, but the couple of people in our group that went to South Africa that killed monkeys were changed by the experience. Apparently, they don't give up to easy.

I find this thread interesting. The last time I was at the lease I was there by myself. The second week there I went to town to get more stuff I could not live without. While filling gas cans I started talking to an old timer filling his truck. He asked where I was hunting & I told him. He proceeded to tell my about a federal trapper that had sighted a pack of wild monkeys on our ranch. Before I left to go down there Carter Smith had told me about a confirmed "male bear cub sighting". I am on a ranch about an hour from the closest pavement & it is spooky at night out there alone. Now I have a pack of wild monkeys, wets, wild hogs, bears, & snakes. I like sitting around a fire at night & drinking an adult beverage or three..Makes it tough when your mind wanders in to a zoo with no fences. :D

You guys need to stop monkeying around here.

Perhaps the monkeys on your lease have decided to get into bootlegging, in which case we're talking about "monkyshines".

Bullrdr82 12-23-2008 06:34 PM

Mark, That is great.....

Now, did you get that on video??? I am sure everyone would love to have an episode of the Buff and Chunky show when they hunt monkeys!!!
