Chester 2011

The 25th Glenn Parker Stick Bow Round Up will be held in Chester, TX on May 14-15,2011. Mark your calendars now and plan on attending. This will be our 25th year, and the 16th year that we have honored Glenn with this shoot. Flyers for the shoot will be sent out in Feb. 2011 that will contain pre registration form and more shoot info.
We are always looking for vendors, dealers, and equipment makers to come set up for the weekend. If you are a vendor, dealer, or equipment maker and would like to join us, contact me now to reserve your spot. We have averaged 410+ scorecards issued the last 5 years and hope to continue to grow.
Don't forget the Hill Country shoot in April by TBoT.

Sounds like a big and fun shoot. Bob

Ric_o_shay 09-17-2010 03:01 PM

i just texted my wife to tell her we can not wait....last year chester was her first ever 3-D shoot and she LOVED it. She has been shooting ever since.......it makes it alot easier if "momma is happy"

How do we go about getting one of the cabins to rent?

axisbuck24 09-20-2010 04:40 PM

Got it marked and like Ric said how can we get a cabin? Maybe we need an LSBA cabin

Bill Decker 09-22-2010 12:40 PM

I take care of lodging at Chester also. If you would like to reserve a cabin for LSBA members, send me an email at my address listed above with info as to who(what group) and approx how many you plan on staying. cabins can hold 12-30 people depending on the size of cabin. All cabins have heat/ac, showers, and restrooms. It will be bunk house style (bunk beds). I assign one bunk bed per person, that way you can put equipment/clothes on top bunk and sleep on the bottom bunk. You will need to bring bedroll, towels, soap, etc with you. Sorry, I have very few couple accomodations and they go on first come first serve basis. 40 targets, can shoot multiple divisions. Flyers will have other shoot info on them. Hope to see you there.

axisbuck24 09-22-2010 12:52 PM

Lets get a group going and get a cabin!

I like the idea, can anyone tell me where Chester, TX is? (I know,I know, Google Maps.) But then again, I have limited weekends off so that would mean that I need to kill my spring turkeys before May so I could have that weekend off for the shoot. Bob

I promise that you will make this an annual event once y.ou attend a Chester shoot They have moving targets, great food, and fungames to test your skills.

Bill,

Bobby,
I made a correction. No sleep between now and end of deer season.

Chester is located half way between Woodville and Corrigan on Hwy 287. Approx 90 miles northeast of Houston, 70 miles north of Beaumont, and 40 miles south of Lufkin. AxisBuck24, I got the email, I think I have sent reply.

Yeah, I am looking forward to this shoot. Come one come all...did you know they do a crawfish boil? Sounds good...

Bisch 11-08-2010 10:30 AM

I'll be there for sure! I'll be staying in the cabkin that Bob Sarrels books every year.

See ya there Bill,

Biksch

Bill Decker 11-08-2010 03:55 PM

Update

Sorry to say, we will not have the crawfish boil. We did have it 2 years, but cost, and lack of people eating, we were losing money. So, we do not have the boil. Maybe in the future we can do it again, but not now.
Bisch, got you in Bob's cabin.

Bill Decker 11-08-2010 04:01 PM

Dealers, bow makers, suppliers, etc

If you would like to set up at Stick Bow, to show your stuff, contact me at my email: bdecker@nederland.k12.tx.us
Cost for the weekend is $30 or we rather you donate $30 in merchandise to the drawings we hold each day. The money raised in the drawings we donate to cancer research in Glenn Parker's name.
You can set up outside or inside the pavillion. Please contact me asap, as the inside spots go quickly.

Bill Decker 03-15-2011 10:24 AM

If you pre-registar the cost is $10 per division. If you wait till you get to the shoot, the cost is $15 per division. Bunkbeds in one of the cabins cost $15 per person per night. Meals in the cafeteria onsite will run about $5 per meal.
For a flyer, send me your postal address and I will put one in the mail tonight.
I will be at the North Vs. South shoot in Louisana this Sunday, will have flyers with me.

tradDoc53 04-17-2011 10:31 AM

Bill, could you send me info on how to reserve a bunk? Thanks

Bill Decker 04-20-2011 07:02 AM

I take care of all overnight reservations. What do you need and how many nights? Send me an email or call at home in the evenings.

We use the bunkhouses at the camp, I assign one bunkbed per person, that way you can store equipment, clothes, etc on top sleep on bottom bunk. Need to bring pillow towel sleeping bag or sheet/blanket. Bunkhouses are AC/Heat, have showers and toilets. Cafeteria will serve 3 meal Saturday, 2 meals on Sunday. Cost per meal per person has been around $5 in the past.
Chapel service on Sunday morning before registration opens.

Bill Decker 05-05-2011 03:56 PM

Need a RV Spot, we are full. But Chester RVis located just 3 miles away on Hwy 287. The number is 939-969-2345. They have 12 Spots.
