New Steelforce turkey broadhead
 

I was scanning my new Cabelas catalog and noticed this new broadhead.
The serrated edges are facing forward and the bleeder blade is serrated as well.

This might be something to try this Spring.

Timm, I was just going to use steelforce broadheads with a game stopper behind them, but I'll have to sight in, tune and pratice with the new weight. This might be an option, but even though the barbs face forward, I still feel or wonder if these heads will blow through a turkey!

I would imagine they would but the barbs would grab and hold so much stuff the bird would not go very far.

been watching the outdoor channel and the turkey hunts. I have not seen these used yet, but many of these shows (read all) use mechanicals. Seems the 2 1/4 to 3 inch cut is waht they look for and the birds do not fly off, however I did see one fly with the arrow in it with a 2 blade fixed. Boy was that weird.

Since we cannot use mechs on this trip, these babys might be our ticket to some fresh turkey. :D

Timm, I think you might be right. I'm going to call Cabela's and order a three-pak. I'm sure they will fly identical to my other steelforce, so I wonn't have to change anything.

Just have to make sure I don't get this broadhead confused with the regular steelforce when hog hunting.

Well, even if you do get them confused that wouldn't be as bad as the guy that went bear hunting and shot a blunt at the bear!
I ordered the broadheads online from Cabela's. They're run about $31. with shipping.

I may get me some of the new razorheads and take a file to them.

31 bucks for three seems kinda steep. JMHO. Sure looks like a mean head though.

That's a total price which includes shipping.
Drive down to your local archery shop and buy some.
Then add up the cost of fuel, tire wear, and your time and see what it cost you. :D

If I didn't shoot wood arrows, I might just give them a try.

But, I was thinking that maybe I'd use some of the razorheads with my 2117s for turkeys. I can put a washer or something on them to keep 'em from passing completely through. Still want a razor sharp edge though. Helps ensure slicing vitals instead of pushing them out of the way. But, I suppose the seration would help in that too. Hmm. :D

I laugh at the american bowhunter show on outdoor channel where he got a great hit on the turkey and as you see the turkey fly outta sight with the arrow thru him the camera person just stays on the bird and you hear DAMN....

I bet that was funny!

These new blades should slow down when the barbs start catching stuff.

What I'm thinking of is velocity Timm. At say 15 - 20 yards I don't think the density of a turkey would stop an arrow with the KE of some of today's setups even with seration. I suppose I'd just have to see it though. I'm not versed in physics so, I really don't know.

Also, I haven't got a bow kill on a turkey either, so I can't say aye, yes, or no. I'm only making suppositions.

I shot a turkey in the head once with a .20 ga and he flew up in a tree, so, I shot him again. He didn't fly no more. That day I got two turkeys with three shots. Had a broken wrist and elbow, and was shooting a single shot. (I didn't know my wrist was broken at the time. Only my elbow.) I had an Ace bandage on my wrist and a sling holding my elbow up. I had to shoot across my forearm as my wrist hurt too much to hold the gun. Freak horse riding accident. The doc said my wrist was sprained. :lol:

If anyone is interested muzzy came out with a new turkey broadhead it is four blades but only two sides have razors and the other side is pread really wide and is blunt edged to hold onto the birds guts. I seen them at barlows in richardson.

Wow Barlows actually has archery stuff??????? Last time I was in there they had nothing but junk and were selling five year old bows as brand new.

Haven't been back since.
