Update on the Lion Hunt that was donated for our auction......Given that it's an expensive trip, we decided to give it more exposure by listing it on eBay (see link). Thus it will not be part of the Live Auction. However, this listing is set to end Saturday night during the Banquet; we hope to be set up such that if anyone there wants to bid on it they can log into eBay and do so. Otherwise hopefully we end up with a successful online auction in the midst of our Live Auction! |
RE: Lion Hunt
So, to bid on the hunt we'll need to bid via Ebay? When does bidding open and what if a potential bidder doesn't have an Ebay account? Before we decide to bid I also need to ask if there will be any 'issues' obtaining a permit to hunt the animal with a bow. I ask solely because a close friend of ours successfully bid on a lion hunt last year at a Safari Club (forget whether it was the Dallas or Houston event), never the less the hunt was to happen this summer. Ten days ago he was informed that his 'bowhunt for a lion' was denied by the regulatory agency that oversees the methods and modes of dangerous game hunts. Last question - are there any 'mininum draw weight' restrictions, or KE requirements? See y'all this weekend RH |
Rick, those are some really good questions. Hopefullywe can find out those questions and ad them to the auction. Thanks

Re: the Lion Hunt auction on eBay.......
Yes, bidding needs to be done via eBay and is already open. As I write this though no one has bid on it yet. However, with eBay listings its not unusual for there to be little bidding activity until the last minute. In order to bid on this hunt, an eBay account is required (these are very easy to set up). If we don't receive any bids on eBay by the time the listing closes at 8:23 Sat night, then we would be free to sell/auction the hunt by other means, so we could open the hunt to bidding among the attendees at the banquet. However if someone really wants to bid on it, doing so thru eBay would be the best strategy. As for the questions about doing the hunt as a bowhunt, we will check on that and post any clarifications ASAP...... |
Muley Hunt
I'll be donating a Muley Hunt for those interested. This will be over water out of the one blind I have. My Mom's place is in the foothills of the Guadalupe Mountains. Here's a pic of one of the bucks we had coming in last year. We never got him. Heck, I didn't get one at all but I guess that's hunting. I haven't checked the pics this year.

I know for a fact that we've had clients who've hunted lion with us with a bow, so unless anything has changed, there should be no problems obtaining a permit. I've forwarded the questions to Ricus and as soon as he replies, I'll let you know. |
