Once again the LSBA is a sponsor of the Expo at TPWD headquarters in Austin on October 6th and 7th, and volunteers are needed. We will be providing the archery range and it takes a lot of volunteers to pull it off. The LSBA Archery Range was the most popular event at the Expo last year with more kids and their families trying archery than participants in any other activity. We hope to introduce even more kids to archery and bowhunting this year!

“What is the Texas Parks and Wildlife Expo? It's an outdoor experience where visitors fish, shoot, kayak, rock climb, mountain bike, see and touch wildlife, learn about recreation in the Great Outdoors and see and buy the latest in outdoor gear and services. Most importantly, visitors can learn how they can help to conserve this precious resource. And it's FREE!

Presented by Texas Parks and Wildlife and a coalition of conservation organizations, agencies and sponsors, Expo celebrates the diversity of the outdoor experience in Texas. From camping and outdoor skills to shooting sports and fishing, from bird watching to paddle sports, Expo visitors have an opportunity to try their hands at two full days of fun in the outdoors.” TPWD Expo Website http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/exptexas/programs/expo/expo2007/

The LSBA has reserved campsites at McKinney Falls State Park for any volunteers that wish to campout with us. McKinney Falls State Park is right next to TPWD Headquarters in Austin. Up to eight people can stay in each of the campsites so there should be plenty of room. Sites have water and electricity. Let me know if you plan on camping with us and if you have a RV, travel trailer, or tent. First come first served on RV, travel trailer sites.

Please contact me at rww1626@aol.com or call 972-259-0263 to volunteer. I hope to see you there.

Thanks,

Bob Wright
LSBA President

TPWD has barbecue and entertainment for all Expo volunteers at the end of the day on Saturday. Door prizes are handed out too. Also, a couple of pics from our campsite at McKinney Falls State Park.

Steve Shedd, our singer/songwriter/TV Host/LSBA member, will be helping us out at the Expo again this year. Steve will stop by McKinney Falls State Park where the LSBA has several compsites reserved for volunteers and play music for us. Steve asks that you bring your guitars and join in. All volunteers are welcome to camp with us at the park.

Still time to volunteer. If you're not bowhunting this weekend, come out and help us introduce kids and their families to archery and bowhunting.

Great turn out today. Well worth missing a weekend of bowhunting. I think we had right around 1600 visitors today alone, and there is still tomorrow.

Sorry i couldn't make it. Steve did a great job singing at the campfire on Saturday. Sounded Great! Got to hear it via cell phone. :-) Wish I could have been there. Hopefully I will be next year. Thanks to all who volunteered!
