My wife and I were out at my farm in Colorado County filling bird feeders when my wife says very calmly, "There's a snake in that tree." He was directly above me about 4 feet up on a limb. 4 1/2 to 5 foot with 12 Rattles and a button. It is the biggest Timber Rattler I have ever seen and being the law abiding steward of wildlife that I am he still lives BUT I'll dang sure be lookin around when I climb into my ladder stands this fall

They're out to get you Ronny. Gotta watch 'em. :)

BTW, thought of you as I blew through Cumby Sunday. For about 7 - 8 seconds anyway. Then I was thinking about why Tinman wouldn't answer his cell phone. ...must have caller ID.

Those are some good pics. Just adds to why we need to be always alert while outdoors. ;)

Wow. Neat pictures.

My hat's off to you on the ecology/conservation front. I tend to draw the line at non poisonous snakes. Those I let go, that guy I would have introduced to blunt trauma at the end of a long stick.

It probably would have been a race to the ground for me and the snake. All the kicking, scratching and thrashing around would have killed at least one of us!

Biggun, you got the squirrel part down! :D

I had the pleasure of hauling butt down a dirt road with Trailboss on a girl's hunt. He about ran over a rattlesnack, he backed up, got out and eventually clobbered it to death with a durn rock. I wish I had had a video camera with me. Was the funniest thing, I almost laughed myself out of the jeep!

I went back there last weekend which was 3 weeks later and he is still in that same tree. He has shed and is now 13 rattles and a button. I almost died laughing watching a young squirrel trying to get past the snake to the bird feeder. I just knew I was going to see fur and scales flying everywhere at any moment when the squirrel decided retreat was the best course of action.
