You're on the ground walking to the stand. 12 yards in front of you a 750 pound boar hog walks slowly onto the path your on 90 degrees/broadside. Tusks are awesome and he doesn't know you're there. Catch, the only cover is some 3' high catclaw, prickly pear, tasajilla and about 15 - 20 new growth mesquite.

Would ya put your broadhead through his ribs? Would ya?

YEP!! I always lace my boots up tight and that's the rush of it:) Ask Tomme about me stickin a pig in the middle of the road with at least 15+ others all around me and they were mostly big sows with a few shoats....lots more dangerous than solitary boars....

Then again....Kim tells me daily that I'm a dumb a$$...LOL

SP!KE LIVES!!!!!

See, the reason I asked is that I would take the shot too. Just couldn't help myself.

I saw the same question asked on another website and I thought I'd give us Texans a chance to answer too. Most of those on the other site were too concerned with whether they were in a treestand or not. :P

I would shoot and did so on just about the same setup as that at the Callaghan Ranch this year. Had about 20 pigs feeding directly towards me and they were so busy eating that they got to within about 15 yards before I side stepped to get a broadside shot. Didn't think about what the pigs were going to do, just wanted some sausage.

My Georgia brothers would have been scared s********less.
I have been hunting in Texas, tooooo long!

TEXAS RULES!!!!!

Wild Bill, Texas hunters are obsessed, that what my wife says anyway. That the differance in us and everyone else. Besides that, we love being obsessed.

you bet take the shoot, Unless your not sure of your skills. Take em down with one shoot is my motto.

Well, the point is that they don't always just fall down when shot. And that is a large hog.

I know, that would not be my concern. My concern would be "Dang that's HUGE, lot of bacon. Aim small, miss small."

Breath, draw, anchor, thwump!!!!

Sure I'd take the shot. Leastwise that's my story here at the computer in my living room and I'm sticking to it. Afterward how fast can you run, dodge or wrestle.

As for screaming like a girl hogslayer...that had nothing to do with the hog. It was because there was this idiot on the other side of the pig about to take another shot with me dead in line. Come to think of it Hogslayer,YOU were that idiot. Besides, it was a mellow baritone scream. Nothing girllike about it at all.

tomme, I have witnessess! they thought they were listening to the vienna boys choir! .......don't shoot it's me....... heck there is a little difference between you and a hog....(very little come to think about it) .... ok you should have been scared....

Tomme
03-27-2004, 07:42 PM
Vienna boys choir? See that's what I'm talking about. There you go delusional again. A mellow baritone I tell you. Besides with a paranoid schizophrenic lining up on you and pretending he 's trying for the hog....

hogslayer
03-27-2004, 08:08 PM
Tomme, you must be in error, both my personalities are not paranoid. And who would want to miss a shot at sticking a 200 pound turkey? Heck when you walk the feed route at night we need a flasher on you so no one else takes a shot at you...

Sorry, but I really have to correct the grammer in these responses. Fellas, it is TOOK the shot, not TAKE the shot!

Hogslayer, I have an antique barbed broadhead (Say that one five times fast...) just for you.

Plus, you complained that trent never hunts with us anymore and he is coming and you bail out on him, your gonna give the man a complex.

I got lost somewhere at the FIRST question. I guess that if a hog is in shooting range, and I have an opportunity - I think that's what you call - A NO BRAINER! But then again, I've only been hunting with a COUPLE of you guys, and Tomme, whatever anyone says about you - you DO hunt. I've never shot a 700-pound hog, only in the 40-300 pound ranges. My only problem would be - getting Tomme, Charles, Bob (Gagnon), Ronnie Strickland and Brad Adams to help me carry the bacon!

Thanks for the comment, and don't worry, we'd carry your heavy bow...now that 700 # hog is your problem. :P

That's a no branner, the mystical flight of the arrow would find its mark once again ! and again ! That hog would look like a pin cushion when i was done. A hog of that size i wouldn't let out of my sights!!!!
