I'm back in Johannesburg. I had a good hunt even though it rained for 2 days and really slowed the hunting. I didn't see a trophy animal for 3 days. I was still able to scratch out a few. Several Arrows were ruined hunting in the rain trying to slip up on a Bush Buck. I never won any ribbons for sneaking up on stuff but it was better than setting in camp. A couple of more were messed up shooting tin Coke cans but I will post the good ones to follow. Tin man was the only unlucky one along for the trip. I had his arrow out for 7 hours . having seen nothing I put his back and pulled out TradAg. 15 minutes latter zebra came in. @ days later I shot the only animal I did not recover with Tin mans shaft. A really nice Water buck. I hit him quartering away and we had good lung blood for about 200 yards and then it went off a rock face on the mountain and just flew away. We never saw blood or tracks again.

The first Animal I whacked was a Kudu with Hot4hunting's shaft and a Silver Flame broad head. I hit him in the shoulder and only got about 6" of penetration. Luckily they are only about 10" thick and he only went about 200 yards.

Later that same morning I had a nice Impala come in and hang around for 30 minutes before He gave me the shot I wanted. This arrow had Daniel on one side and Mojo68 on the other ( so I messed up when I marked them). He almost ducked the shot but the Silver Flame went through both shoulders. He made it about 300 yards leaving hardly any blood. The African trackers made short work of him

Later that same day the only Boar Warthog I saw all week came in right before dark. Broken Arrow's arrow hit him perfect and he only made it 50 yards. It was a good first day :D

The next morning Tinmans arrow killed nothing but my time. After putting it up 5 Zebras came in. I shot him with TradAg and hit him in the spine. He hit the ground and started to stand back up facing me. I hit him with 2 more arrows that I don't even remember reaching for. Bullrdr82 and DuckN. he fell on the spot.
The German Kinitic heads gave impressive penatration one of the arrows passed through the Zebra lenght wise but left poor blood trails due to their small size.

The next morning 40 or 50 Blesbuck came in before day light. My PH was worried they would be gone before day light. I showed him how we shoot Hogs at night here in Texas when one silhouetted against the dead grass. It is probably the sweetest video footage I have as the Luminock really shined in the predawn. When it got light enough to see I found the arrow was Losthawgs.

Then the rains came. I missed a Nyala at about 30 yards so close we thought I hit it with Grizz and whacked some birds with Roger's

We saw a really good Mountain Reed Buck and spent 2 entire days trying to get him. He was chasing does around us but wouldn't come around the pop up blind. Finally the afternoon of the second day he came trotting by and stopped to look back. I hit him with Chunky's arrow tipped with a Zephyr head. He fell on camera

I took another good Impala with Bigun's arrow tipped with a Zephyr head. I was baring down on his elbow and he forgot to duck. It really wreaked him out. busting thru both front legs and his heart.

The next day I was setting with my wife when another good Kudu came in. I was standing lusting for it but saying out loud I already had on. She whispered O heck shoot it if you want. 5 seconds later I hit him with Artisticwildlifes arrow tipped with a Silver Flame. I hit him to far forward going in in front of one shoulder coming out behind the other. There was not a speck of blood other than on my arrow. The next morning The tracker followed him a half mile on tracks alone only finding blood where he laid down. The kudu busted out of his bed and ran about 100 yards, laid down and died. his skin felt like a water balloon. the blood had leaked between his ribs and his skin with hardly a drop leaking out on the ground.

The day after the rain stopped My wife and I had a thrilling spot and stalk hunt for Gemsbuck. We almost were trampled by a herd of 50 Blesbuck and She made a beautiful 250 yard shot with the rifle resting on my shoulder.

Those are some great critters there BUFF, congrats to you and Lisa. You should have used H4h arrow on a guinea fowl  instead of that big kudu, since she been wanting a guinea so bad. Bob

My arrows can't find their mark even with Buff shooting 'em! ;)

Congrats to both of you on your fine harvest and exciting trip!

Enjoy the rest of your stay.

Congrats on what looks like a great hunt Buff. I am sorry to hear about the rain for your hunt, but they sure needed some. It is too bad it could not wait until you left.

You still stacked them up anyway. Who was your PH and tracker? Did you get to tell the guys hello for me?

What were your overall throughts of the operation? Was it everything you expected?

Great recap Buff, so glad you had a great time. You got some awesome animals.

We have missed you since you have been gone.

Good think they found that waterbuck, I was thinking that it wasn't the concrete pig at all,,,,but Joey's name on it that was the curse.

The videos are great, I have watched them at least 3 times each.

Thanks, I'm just plain sick about loosing the tape with the second Impala, Waterbuck and Reed buck on it. We were copying tape and using my camera to make copies. I hope it is in one of the other guys bags.

Buff - You are my hero. Awesome stories, too. Congrats on the African hunt.

I really can't wait to see you and most everyone again. Looks like I'll be attending the State shoot in August.
