Just wondering what your shot preference on cottontails is. I shot one through the heart/lungs/liver (small target) a few years back and wasn't able to pick it up before it got so deep under a brush pile I couldn't get to it without a dozer. So, now my shot preference is the head.
Do any of you hunt rabbits with your bow? Lots of fun in my opinion. My last shot was about 1/2 inch high and a clean miss. Amazing how fast the critters can scat when the arrow flies between the goal posts.

Losthawg, I am a rabbit hunting junkie. That is one of my favorite past times during the off season. I've been on hog hunts when things were slow and stuck a few bunnies to keep things going. Timm and I were down in Laredo last spring hog hunting and I shot, skinned and kept a rabbit there. I also aim for the head but don't always connect there. I once shot at a rabbit and thougt I had missed clean. When I went to retrieve my arrow there laid about a half inch of bunny ear! Talk about a close shave! I bet that bunny is still looking back! :)

I did something similar to a Jack. He was about 15 paces and I shot. Thought it was a clean miss but a bout 10 feet down the trail he ran on was a small puddle of blood. That's the only blood I found too. No rabbit. I guess I just skipped my broadhead off his skull. Never ate Jack Rabbit, but sure wanted to try at the time. I haven't even gotten close on the few attempts I've tried on squirrels. Very deceptive when they're on the side of a tree. Look a lot closer than they really are. But, it's been a couple years and I'm a lot better shot now. Give me another chance.
I love hunting rabbits and Squirrels. I always shoot at their eye. I never hit them there but it seems the small aiming point helps me hit them some where

Well, I'm ready for some fried rabbit or squirrel. Maybe some dumplins. Either way, I won't complain. ;)
