View Full Version : best Deer I didn't get
I had this deer around me 3 day in a role. he never came closer than 40 yards. It is one of the few times I have wished for a Compound. it sure made it easy to get up in the mornings knowing he was around

I see your problem. He's right in front of the feeder so if he never got closer than 40 yards you must be setting up too far out. :D
That would make it worthwhile to get up. On a related outdoor note, in the summer I've taken to setting out a couple of lines when I go to bed. Kind of makes it worthwhile to stagger out of bed in the morning (I am not a morning person!) Some days I'll look out the window and my line has been pulled way off to the side. Found a couple of good reds on there. Sweet!

Nice buck Buff,
You can't kill everything I guess, that is one lucky deer. When he goes back in the woods and brags that he was 40 yards from you, the other animals will call him a lier.

With the season you've had (two caribou, MONSTER ELK!), you'd be plumb ruint if God have given you a shot at that buck too!

Marty, next season when he shows up I'll come sit with you, I have wheels. I won't charge you a thing.

Ya know? Paul Schafer woulda took him. (I'm not talking about that moron on that other moron's talk show either)
That is one awesome creature. Better to pass and have a better chance than a wound and a regret. No doubt he's bigger racked that the one I mmm, mmm, mmm, uh, didn't get last year. This year, I saw a doe at 40 and a buck at 250; no shot, end game. :?

looking at the date, i would bet your already putting a game plan together for opening day of archery season '07 8)
he sure is purty, he'll look good with the others. February is a good month for building brush blinds. closer to the feeder or the trail he used.

Its a gift to just be able to see a deer that big in person, be happy with that, most of us don't even have a place where we can see a deer of that caliber, at least I know I don't.

That's a super nice buck. Is that an East Texas buck?

That deer would not only get me out of bed in the mornings, it would keep me awake at night. What a beautiful animal. Hope you get on him again this fall Buff.

Buff, that is a nice deer. As for my best buck that I did not kill this year, it could have spike antlers. I was skunked this year  and only killed a turkey on the last day of the season. Pick a Spot welcome to the site. Bob

Oh, I'm sorry, Babe! Don't worry, your three pounds of ground turkey will eat just as well as my two deer!
