This was posted by Ken Carter on the bowsite. I think it's time we started hitting Parks and Wildlife up for more bowhunts.
"Mike Leggett at the Austin American-Statesman reported that the TPWD has revised their estimate of bowhunter numbers in Texas from around 65,000 to nearly 130,000. The old number was based only on sales of archery stamps, while the new number includes the results of a random survey of 5,000 Super Combo license holders. This means that the TPWD will allocate over $731,000 to the benefit of bowhunters (supposedly). A quote from Mr. Leggett "it seems reasonable that Parks and Wildlife might want to think about buying some special hunts for archers as part of the Big Time Texas Hunts or offering special archery hunts on wildlife management areas.".
If this new money really does appear we might want to encourage TPWD spend it on us. I tried to post this at the LSBA site but can't get logged on over there.
Has anybody that's heard about this got any comments? "
