Volunteers are needed to help with the TPWD Expo in Austin on October 7th and 8th.
What is the Texas Parks & Wildlife Expo? It's an outdoor experience where visitors fish, shoot, kayak, rock climb, mountain bike, see wildlife, buy the latest outdoor gear and services, and learn, hands-on, about recreation in the Great Outdoors. Most importantly, visitors find out how they can help to conserve this precious resource. And, Expo is free!
The LSBA is hosting the archery range at the Expo and we need help assisting kids and their families shoot arrows at 3D targets. Literally thousands of kids go through the archery range each year and a lot of volunteers are needed. Kids love to shoot a bow and arrow and our range is one of the most popular events at the Expo.

Still need volunteers for both days. If you're not going to be bowhunting the weekend of October 7th and 8th, come on out and help youngsters fling a few arrows. You'll really enjoy the experience.
We're going to be camping at McKinney Falls State Park so if you live out of town don't let that stop you. Several of us from the DFW area will be coming down and comping out. We had a great time last year and maybe we can talk Steve Shedd into coming out with his guitar.

Bob, I can't volunteer, but I might be able to accidentally show up. I can't make any promises though. Wish I could. I really had fun the one time I did work the Expo. I recommend it to anyone who has the free time. ;)
Is it still on Smith School Road? (or something like that)

The Expo is still at TPWD headquarters, 4200 Smith School Road in Austin. This is the fifteenth year for the Expo.
I hope you can make it.

OK Bob. You got me. I'll work all day on Saturday. I'll be driving in that morning then driving back to the farm that evening. I'll see you there.

The LSBA is a sponsor of the Expo. As a sponsor we get a small ad in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine. There are four pages of sponsor ads. Here's what our ad looks like in the mag.

8) [/b] If you think about how well your youngsters turned out by having some one to show them the way, think of the satisfaction you could be missing if you don't show up. There's an old song that says it only takes a spark to get a fire going. This may be the spark that keeps ONE child from becoming statistical data from a gang war or drive by shooting and gets them hooked on something besides drugs. If you feel like you may have what God wants you to share with others then give us a call and sign up. By no means cosider it to be a waste of a weekend. It's our chance to show the world what we're all about. Hope to see you there!
