those are some pretty zebras. congrats! what makes a zebra a cull? just controlling numbers? or are there certain charactoristics that make a better zebra? stripes, color, markings?

i really want to go tiger fishing! those are some mean lookin critters!

Thanks for the comment Skeeter, Zebras are very heavy on the bush if they are not managed properly they cane damage and remove almost every piece of grass. And the quality of your other animals will go down. And then they are valued for their meat and skin. You should come over to give those tigers a go.!!!!

I hear zebra tenderloin is excellent table fare! On my first trip to Africa, I had a beautitful zebra in front of me for at least a 1/2 hour. I drew on him three times. Never took the shot. I never got the "the feeling"! Just didnt feel right. I couldnt shoot a horse. I did get several good shots with my camera.

tell us more about the tiger fish. what do they eat? what kind of tackle is used for tigerfishing? Are they any good to eat? What is considered a BIG tiger fish? Do you cast or troll for tiger fish?

I think its a great trophy to have despite it being a horse :) The meat is good but why eat zebra when you can eat kudu or buffalo?

The tigerfish we caught came out of the Okovango but they are widely distributed in some African countries like Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia etc.
They are PREDATORS!!!
These ones on the photo was caught on tigerfish fillet of some smaller ones we caught. You can catch them on almost anything when they are in a frenzy. We mostly use Rapalas, Spinners and spoons. Guys do well on fly fishing as well. Then there is live bait and you can make a long list and go on and on and on.....We do troll for them occasionally I don't prefer it personally. The meat aint that great its very oily(reason why we use it for bait) Had some fish cakes before from tigerfish and it was good to try out and they have alott of bones.

Not sure of the record but no about 10kg tigers that have been caught. Then they have a cousin in Central Africa the Goliath Tigerfish that reaches 60kg in size.

Nevr tried buffalo yet! (well, I did eat bison once!:(), kudu is excellent!

WOW! that thing is freakin huge! That is cool! 60kg, thats like 130 pounds, right! Freakin HUGE!! I gotta start plannin a tiger fishin trip! that looks like fun:D

Those are some cool pix! I have never seen any of those fish. I did recognize the pike. the first pic looks like a cross between a tad pole and a catfish!

Yall got any largmouth bass of crappie over there? ;)

My dad and I will be in South Africa july 29-aug 7. I may have to extend our stay a couple of days!
