Going over to Alvin in the morning to see if I can't stick a little bacon in time for breakfast. I got a tripod, feeder and lights setup on Monday. The feeder is going off at 4:30AM and the lights have a motion detector. The land owner says all the corn is gone when he gets up in the morning so it looks pretty good. Wish me luck.

BTW I'll be using those new arrows self nock arrows with the trade points.

This little piggy went to market.
This little piggy stayed at home.
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went "Wee! Wee! Wee!" all the way home.

LOL that's what the piggies will be doing....Wee! Wee! Wee! all the way home! Except for the ones that don't escape your arrows! Good luck, Derek!

Well wondering if I need to bring the eggs so that we can have bacon and eggs. Hope you got one. Bob

Well once more the hogs were a no show. Feeder went off on time and all that came to breakfast were some coons. Think I need to move the tripod, going to try to get over there this afternoon to make the move. Then back out there at 3AM.

Changed my tactics and went over this evening. I stuck a good eating size pig at 5:45. The only problem is I lost the blood when my light started giving out. Will go back in the morning for the recovery. All the animals I've lost over the years have been on evening hunts. Don't mind me I'm a little down in the dumps right now.

All the animals I've lost over the years have been on evening hunts.

Dittos here. I changed my hunting MO a couple of years ago to compensate for several factors: the rugged terrain the deer seem to insist on running to; the mountain lion factor; trailing blood at night is not something I'm good at; and the fact I seem to be aging whether I want to or not. After several all-nighters with me and my B-I-L out all night tracking deer..... sometimes succesfully, sometimes not....I've decided to go ahead and go on the evening hunts but not take a shot unless it's an animal I can't pass up and would gladly risk the perils of going after it. The morning shots are so convenient....usually have them cut up and chilling by noon.

I'm all scratched up and wore out, but I didn't find the pig or my arrow. What I did find was evidence my are did exit the off side. The pig was broadside with the light pole I have the feeder attached to behind him. Here is a picture of where the broadhead hit the pole after passing through. Wish the pole had not been there, the arrow may have complete passed through.

I did find one very small spot of blood past where I was last night to confirm his directions, which was into the thickest stuff he could find.

Here is what the last blood looked like and then some of the spot within 20 yards of the last spot.

It was almost like he was just transported out of there, as I've never seen one stop bleeding that fast. I'm pretty sure the arrow is still in him and that might have made the blood stop faster, I don't know. Sure is tough loosing an animal, even a pig.
