I'm seeking interest in an archery pheasant shoot for Lone Star Bowhunter Association to be held in early Feburary, 2011. Cost would be around $200, with cash prizes for first, second and third place. Assuming 20 archers, the purse would be $600. You'd be shooting flu-flu arrows and hunting with dogs and guides. The event would be held in Gainesville and would include meal and door prizes. Tell me what you think, sounds good, too expensive, not interested at all.
The Hunt Committee has given the go ahead for this, but I'm seeking interest before I formally set this up.

It sounds like a lot of fun and something that I have been wanting to do for a long time. Only problem for me is that I am limited on weekends off and the bowfishing trip is already set in Feb. I am going to do everything I can to try and make this. Bob

Peasant or pheasant hunting with a bow is a hoot. They are one of the few birds that offer a shot on the wing. Make this hunt if you can. Stickbow and instintive shooters delight.

I am very interested but I agree with Bobby it would depend on dates since we have the Beauxs & Reds trip planned at the end of the month. It has always been a dream of mine to hunt birds using a dog. Please let me know the dates you are considering, I know two people that would be interested if dates work during Feb.
Can you hunt them in March?

I was planning on Feb 5/6 but can move it to March if that works better for everyone. Mid-March is about as late as I'd want to go, it starts to get a little warm for the dogs to hunt after that date and birds are more difficult to buy.

This date is better for me than March. March is getting into my turkey hunting. Bob

I think I will be there. And maybe just maybe a few more Cumby boy's.

I would be very interested...and I don't really care about the prizes, but the hunt sounds great and I am okay with the price. Early Feb works for me, let me know if this is on for sure.

Will someone post this on TBH? I'd like for us to get at least 15 or so brave archers. I don't post over on TBH much and they might not receive it as well from me as they would a regular...
I'm heading to Kansas tomorrow for some pheasant hunting and if I had a couple of flu-flus would be tempted to give it a go....hmmmm. I do have 3 arrows with no fletching - wonder if I could make up some flu-flus tonight? Let me go search for some uncut fletching.

Need more information...is lodging included in the price above? Is this a one day or two day event? What happens if we do not get 20 individuals?

Wow I'd love to do this, but I'll have to see how things work out. I've committed to going to OJam the big Traditional Shot up in Oklahoma in March and will need most of the weekends in Jan and Feb to get enough arrows built. I might be able to skip on of them to make this.

Count me in! If this happens I want to go. I paid the same amount in CO last year and had a blast.

Sorry folks, I've been crazy busy. It's set with the preserve. I'll send something to get it in the magazine. Looks like we have enough interest to make a go of it. There is limited lodging - like for 4-5 friendly people. There's plenty of room to park campers, but no hook ups - generators are no problem. There are hotels in Gainesville (5 mile drive). The entry fee pays for lunch on Saturday. Any other questions? I'll put together a flyer with directions and more details. I better get to practicing...

Ok, everything is set. I have the brochure done. I need a catchy name for this event. I was thinking "Flinging at Feathers" or "Pheasants and Flu-Flus" Anyone else have an idea?

Let me think about it but I do like pheasants and flu flus.
