Beauxs & Reds

We will be bowfishing with Captain Josh Galt of Scale Damage Bowfishing out of Port Sulphur, Louisiana on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Lodging will be at the historic Woodland Plantation located on Hwy. 23 near Belle Chasse, Louisiana, on Saturday, February 26th.

This is also the weekend before Mardi Gras, so there may be some groups that decide to plan an excursion into New Orleans. However, any side trips will not be sponsored by the Lone Star Bowhunters Association.

The Lone Star Bowhunters Association is sponsoring the 1st Annual Beauxs & Reds Louisiana bowfishing trip with Scale Damage Bowfishing and lodging at the historic Woodland Plantation, which sits on the mighty Mississippi River near Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Bowfishing space is limited to the first 20 people and is filling up quickly. We will be fishing from airboats in the Louisiana marshes. Available fish includes redfish, black drum, sheepshead, gar, flounder, trout and more.

$285.00 per person, includes bowfishing trip with equipment, one night lodging with breakfast and a Beauxs & Reds T-shirt. Single room lodging is available for an additional fee. Couples and families are welcome. Arrangements for additional nights can be made directly with Woodland Plantation.

$100.00 per person for non-fishermen, includes one night lodging with breakfast and a Beauxs & Reds T-shirt. Airboat trip is not included.

Extra T-shirts are available for $20.00 plus shipping. Extra T-shirts will not be sent out until after March 1, 2011.

$50.00 per person inclusive meal plan for all three meals is available. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in Spirits Hall.

DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

$150.00 deposit per person is due at the time of booking.
$ 50.00 deposit for non-fishing guests

Deposits are non-refundable. They can be transferred or sold.

$5.00 Non-Resident Charter Passenger 3 day license available online at http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/
or a Louisianta hunting & fishing license dealer or contacting the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries by phone at 1-888-765-2602. Each individual is responsible for getting their own license.

Non-fishing guests can enjoy an airboat tour or a custom tour package, which can be booked directly through Woodland Plantation. Fly-fishing, spin-casting and deep seas fishing are also available, as well as birding.

New Orleans and the French Quarter are about a 45 minute drive from Woodland Plantation. Enjoy The Big Easy the weekend before Mardi Gras!

This is a real good chance for everyone that has always wished that they could shoot those redfish with a bow, and for all those that wanted to try out bowfishing. There will be a lot of other fish to shoot, not just reds, and it will be a blast for sure. Airboat rides and bowfishing, cannot get much better out on the water. Bob

I have been trying to practice for this at the house. I am standing on a 4' x 4' platform that is 3' high. I am shooting at a downward angle at my block target up to 15 yds away. I have little paper fishes pined on the target.

Bill, I don't know anything, but this is what we did last time. We met up with the guide before dark, got all forms signed, introduced to the bows, then went fishing. Fished for 4 hours then went back to the plantation and got little sleep, got up and went home. I am sure those that know what we are doing will chime in. Most of the time, ok, all the time I just do what I am told. Bob

I would post some, but I did not take any because I was to busy trying to shoot fish. Someone else will have to post them. For those that did not go, you missed a fun trip. Just wish I could have hit more fish.
