We are spending some time up here in the mountains of New Mexico. I put my trail cams out and captured an interesting change in the weather....not unusual for these parts. (Take note of the temperature in the second pic.....the chill factor had it way down there)

It was spitting snow up at our place north of Zavalla yesterday morning. Wasn't cold enough to stick, but my wife enjoyed see it flying around.
Ray that's a nice group of muleies there, did they come back after it snowed?

We didn't see much activity until the next morning when the big thaw was on....they were back with their friends and relatives. We went to the neighbor's place and fed for him and the deer and turkeys were there in force....never seen so many together up here. It's been a rough winter (lotsa snow, wind, cold) and the deer are really hungry. It'll probably get worse before the late spring....may have some die-off.

Really hope they all make it till spring. They look pretty heathly, so with the food you are giving them they might stand a chance.

They like corn but it doesn't do much for them nutritionally. We feed corn but we also feed alfalfa hay during the hard part of the winter.....and some protein feed. The problem with the hay is the danged elk come through and absolutely demolish the hay in no time! I've seen a cow and calf elk eat a whole bale at one sitting.
With all the moisture this winter, we just need springtime to set in and get them some new growth....especially browse!
