Preferred broadhead shooting a recurve?

I know this is like asking what is the best flavor of ice cream....but I'm actually looking for a variety of answers.....what broadhead do you prefer (large game) with your recurve?

All I have shot to this point is a compound bow with carbon arrows and 100 grain Slick Trick broadheads. The Tricks have been great on deer with the compound but I don't even know if this type broadhead is acceptable to use with a recurve. I also have a stockpile of 4 blade, 100 grain Muzzy's I accumulated before I found the Slick Tricks.

Am I wrong in my observation that the traditional purists prefer two blade heads? (I'm on a steep learning curve)

Ray, for many years all I shot were Mangus Snuffers. They were great out my compound and worked well out of longbow. This changed after one of Chunky posts where he said that 2 blades heads got better penetration. So when I'm shooting carbon out of my longbow or recruve I've switch to Mangus Stingers.

I still had the big 3 blades on those laminated birch shafts I used with my longbow on the hunt a few weeks ago. The reason is those birch shafts are very heavy and I should get super penetration even with the 3 blade heads.

I'm getting read to build a set of carbon arrow for my recurve that I will be using 100gr brass inserts to give me some added weight. Tipped with 125gr Stinger Buzzcuts they should be deadly out of my recurve.

Man I like this site. I learn more everyday from you veteran trad guys on what to use. I am no way ready to start hunting with my recurves or longbow, so I will just have to settle shooting them at the 3-D's and Pop Ups. I still enjoy looking at them while they are resting on the chair admiring how nice my Bob Lee and Palmer bows are, and my longbow is pretty also. Bob

Yeah, I'm not planning on doing any hunting with my recurve until I feel confident in my ability.....may be a long time! I do want to practice with field tips mainly and occasionally with the broadhead I'm planning on hunting with (if ever). That's why I was seeking the info. :)

I did register last night on Tradgang....was up into the wee hours....whew! Lots of stuff there. A lot more personal and laid back here and just as much knowledge, if you ask me.

I haven't shot any 3-D and wouldn't dare try until I get some experience in the back yard. It's probably something I might get into in the future....the meets sound fun.

I'm in the process of building a backstop (wall) behind my bales of hay. They are building a new house on what used to be a vacant lot just beyond my line of fire....:mad:. I'll probably put a few in that wall, hopefully not over it!

One of the things on my to-do list is rebuilding my range. I shoot out in the direction of the barn and had a 3 sided covered backstop. It was pretty nice until Ike came and tore it up. Now with my wife getting into shooting I need to get it fixed back up if the mud ever dries.

I like the 3bld snuffers over a two bld for better blood trail. I get a pass thru with the 3bld so for me penetration is not an issue

I prefer large 3 or 4 blade, cut on contact heads. The definition of sharp is: "Cutting hair coming out the other side:
