How many spots open on this trip.

Tomme
01-07-2009, 11:44 PM
We started with 45. Currently there are about 30 left with something like 10 people saying they are going. I don't count anyone as a hunter until we've received the non-refundable deposit.

Some years we have more people wanting to go then we had spots. Other years we may only have 30-40. This year, with this economy I don't know if we will fill up, but it could happen and certainly has in the past.

Well, I'm shooting for 3 spots.

...if I can get my deposit to Dena on time. :grandpa:

If I have an under 16 hunter going, do I need to send the extra $25 with my deposit? I assume the rest is due upon arrival at the ranch?

Tomme
01-08-2009, 08:12 PM
On the kids you can do it either way. If for some reason the youth hunter can't come, I would appreciate knowing as early as possible. Also yes you are right about the other half being due at the ranch.

Man leave for a day or two and you get insulted. Tracy you just drew a stand in the middle of the garbage pit. Not too scenic, but lots of atmosphere. I'll show you gas.

We have 30 confirmed hunters as of this date. Since my son (Jon) and Brad haven't paid yet, I assume we'll have at least 32 here sooner or later.

Three youth hunters so far.

Tomme and Ronny
Are we still doing a raffle at the end of the hunt? I've been talking with Bob Lee Archery (web store; accessories) about a donation if we are. I'll also, maybe, go talk to Gary at the Outdoorsman. I've already given BLA; Gracie, a tax form. Just need to decide whether or what to go with...

Ronny
02-17-2009, 05:17 PM
We will do some kind of raffle if we can get some stuff. Nice work Losthawg

LostHawg
02-17-2009, 09:50 PM
I'm only somewhat good with a longbow. Recurves and compounds don't seem to agree with me for some reason...

I fully intend to be 6 miles south of Sabinal first weekend of April.

Tomme-

Is there still room? I'm Rusty's buddy that runs the Brushy Hill website and I've been on the ranch the last few years during Grunts & Gobbles. I'd like to join the festivities, formally this year. Also, I'm trying to talk a few other guys into joining and going to the hunt. If you get a chance, send me an email (SouthTXBowhunter@Gmail.com) and let me know how much space you have left.

There are a TON of turkey running the ranch guys. I saw 2 huge flocks of gobblers (at one of my deer blinds) during the last few days of whitetail season- I stopped counting at 36 or 37 gobblers and I saw several other flicks of hens nearby that had 12+ hens in each one. And the hog hunting has been pretty good too. So, this year should be a productive one- IF people will stay OFF those dang 4-wheelers, LOL!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year! I wonder if Brad's going to dig another pit blind? I tried it during deer season and NOW I know how much work it took for him to build his, LOL!

Nick

Tomme
03-08-2009, 10:27 PM
Nick we currently have 37 paid for the hunt, so there are still 8 spots left. Unless three groups of three sign up in the next few days it shouldn't be a problem.

Looks like many of the same folks as the previous years so that means

A. Someone wil get stuck in the pasture

B. Stricklands truck is likely to get flooded

C. No one will win the concrete pig

D. A good time will be had by all.

LOL

03-09-2009, 12:03 PM
kinda sounds like us stricklands mite need to bring more than vehicle or just plan on an extended stay.

Tomme
03-16-2009, 07:35 PM
Right about 40 on the count. Five spots left.

Yes, Stricklands definitely need to bring an extra vehicle. Also floaties, water wings and a Kayak. They'll be happy to see you this year though as it's a dry year.

Tomme

If you'll start recycling your beer cans NOW you'll have enough money to pay for next year. That's the way Ronny does it.

On the shirt for Danny, larger is ok, but it still has to be pink.

Just noticed on the Brushy Creek Ranch website that they do not allow mechanical broadheads.

I have tried to setup using a Magnus and Guillotine, but I can't clear my site, even with an uncut 30" arrow. Since I can't use my standard Rage expandable, what is the best fixed blade broadhead alternative?
