We hosted the archery range for the boy scouts at Camp Pirtle this weekend. One of the big benefits to these shoots are that most of the kids and parents are city folks who have little or no exposure to hunting. As is often the case the Camp directors have reservation about the 3-D targets. As a compromise We set up 2 of the big field archery butts for ALL the kids that would not want to shoot an arrow and a poor defenseless animal. I don't believe any kids shot at the butts all day. The only arrows aimed at the field targets were from parent who just couldn't hit the 3-D's and shot the bigger targets to save face. We had around 150 kids and as many parents shoot. I don't know how many of the kids will follow up and become hunters but I'm sure we changed the opinions of most all of the adults as far as what they thought about hunters as a whole. It was a good day. http://discussions.texasbowhunter.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif THANKShttp://discussions.texasbowhunter.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif for your support that makes these gathering possible.
